Ka Lam is a Hong Kong-based bridal and celebrity makeup artist with over 22 years of experience. Her professional journey began in 2003 at New York Fashion Week, inspired by Pat McGrath. After earning a Fine Arts degree from the University of Hong Kong, she trained further in London and New York before founding KALAMAKEUP in Central, Hong Kong in 2010.
Since then, Ka Lam has provided makeup and hair styling for over 800 brides across local and destination weddings, alongside top executives, celebrities and fashion shows. Her team of stylists — with her for over 15 years — ensures every client receives the same consistent, detail-obsessed care Ka Lam is known for.
Ka Lam's work has appeared in international editions of Tatler, ELLE and Marie Claire. Her fashion clients include Van Cleef & Arpels, La Perla and WWD, and she has worked personally with Charlotte Tilbury, Vivienne Tam, Nicole Scherzinger, Lily James, Ricky Martin, Backstreet Boys and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

I booked Ka Lam to do the hair and make up for my wedding and she was fantastic! She is clearly very passionate, experienced and knowledgeable about her craft, and was so pleasant to work with. Attended a makeup class hosted by Ka Lam and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a girls' gathering. Not only did we get to learn a ton of makeup skills, but the artist also provided delicious chocolates and snacks that made the day even more enjoyable.

My daughter and I went for mother-daughter makeup lessons. Ka Lam was responsive and switched languages as necessary throughout the lessons. I appreciate how she would demonstrate a technique on one side of your face and then she would get you to do it on your own face and correct you if necessary. I have attended other makeup classes and it was always the makeup artist applying makeup to my face. It was helpful having feedback right away on how I held brushes or location of where I applied makeup. She used a lot of analogies to explain different concepts which was useful to my daughter to improve her understanding.
Ka Lam adjusts her teaching style to our lifestyles and doesn’t give us 20 hard step routines that to follow. She used also my own makeup so I can learn how to apply with the tools and products I have. Ka Lam shares what products she found good because she tested them herself. The lessons with her felt like a girls night talking about makeup. She sent some wonderful notes and is a joy to work with. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for makeup lessons!

She absolutely nailed a glamorous smoky eyes make up look and I was so happy with the result. She knows how to take inspirations from photos I sent her and create her own unique touch.
